There are lots of third-party services that people use in conjunction with Blogger. If you run into difficulties with any of them, we may not be able to help you, so you're usually better off contacting them directly. Here's a list of some of the commonly used services and links to get in touch with them. If you don't see the one you're looking for here, try just going to their website and looking around.
The special AdSense tab in Blogger's Template section does not currently have a way to automatically remove ads for you. So if, for some reason, you decide you no longer want to display ads on your blog, you'll need to remove the code manually. It's just a matter of finding the right code and deleting it, so it's pretty easy.
Click on the Template tab for your blog, and make sure you in the "Edit Current" view (where you see all the code) rather than on the AdSense tab. Then scan through your code until you find some code that looks like this:
The numbers will be different, depending on what layout and colors you've chosen, and it will have your own AdSense ID in it instead of all those X's. But the basic format will be the same.
Once you've found that code, just delete it. Everything you see above can go. Then save your changes and republish your blog.
Another way to remove the code it to reset your template to one of our default versions. This is easier than looking through the code yourself, but please note that it will also remove any other customizations your changes you have made.
If you ever decide you want the ads back, just click on the AdSense tab, sign in, and choose the layout and colors you want.
This article discusses editing the Windows Registry. This gives you complete control over the configuration of your menus, but you should be extremely careful not to change Registry values that are used by other applications. Blogger Support accepts no responsibility for any problems that may arise as a result of any changes to the Registry, even for those changes outlined in this example.*
Go to Start --> Run.
Type regedit and hit Enter.
Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\MenuExt\ in the left pane.
In the right pane, you should see the entry for the BlogThis menu link you want to get rid of. Click on the following entry, delete the key from the registry, and it will no longer appear when you right-click in Internet Explorer.
REGEDIT4 [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\MenuExt\BlogThis!] @="http://www.blogger.com/contextScripts/blogthis.pyra" "contexts"=hex:31

If you've ever had the urge to have a computer tell you what kind of cheese you most resemble, or what character you could play in an anime version of Lord of the Rings, then Internet quizzes are for you. You can even share the results on your blog and get all your friends to compare their answers with yours. The most popular site for quizzes is Quizilla, but you may be able to find others by doing a Google search.
Here's a sample quiz result that you might get if you want to find out what kind of candy you'd be:
You're bubblegum!!! You love to have a good time,
and enjoy being around others who feel the same
way. You tend to be the life of the party, and
people like to be around you as much as they
can.
Which kind of candy are you?
brought to you by Quizilla
Guestbooks are a way for visitors to your blog to leave you a message. Unlike a tagboard, a guestbook is usually on a separate page, and it may allow for both public and private messages.
There are a number of sites that offer free guestbook services. You can do a Google search to find them, or you can start by checking out some of these links:
Do you ever wonder about your visitors' opinions? Maybe you'd like to find out what your readers think about controversial subjects, or perhaps you just want a vote on whether your should change your blog's font to Verdana. Either way, it's simple to do by adding a poll to your blog.
There are a number of sites that offer free poll services. You can do a Google search to find them, or you can start by checking out some of these links:
Here is an example poll for your amusement:
| What is Graham's best nickname? | |
| Graham Cracker | |
| Golden Grahams | |
| Pentagraham | |
| Milligraham | |

Tired of using boring little colons and parentheses for smilie faces in your blog? Try replacing them with some colorful images, or even animations. Like this:
There are a number of sites that offer free smilies for you to use. You can do a Google search to find them, or you can start by checking out some of these links:
Note: AudioBlogger is a third-party product offered in partnership with Blogger.
AudioBlogger lets you post audio snippets to your blog from any telephone. Read more about it in Blogger Knowledge: On The Road with AudioBlogger. Then sign up and get started here:

Be sure to read the AudioBlogger FAQ, and contact Listenlab if you have any questions or suggestions.
Tagboards are like little messages attached to your blog, where your readers can leave you notes. They differ from comments, which are attached to individual posts, in that you just have one tagboard for your whole site, and visitors can read the messages right on your homepage. It can be a good way to encourage interaction among your readers and create a sense of community on your blog.
There are a number of sites that offer free tagboard services. You can do a Google search to find them, or you can start by checking out some of these links:
Once you've got your tagboard installed, it might look something like this:
Photo albums often make great companions to blogs. For instance, you might be blogging about your latest trip to Hawai'i and have dozens or hundreds of photos to share with your friends. If you create a photo album and upload your pictures there, your readers will be able to click a link and browse all your photos in easy thumbnail or slideshow formats. They could even order prints for themselves, and you wouldn't even have to worry about keeping track of how many reprints to get of which picture. It's very convenient all around.
There are a number of sites that offer free photo album services services. You can do a Google search to find them, or you can start by checking out some of these links:
Blogger.com lets you post photos directly to your blog, and Windows users can use the Hello BloggerBot for photo-posting.
Another fun thing to do with your photos is create a photoblog. This is like a blog, but rather than a series of text entries, it's a series of photos. You can upload them from your computer or even email them, which means that if you have a camera phone, you don't even have to be near a computer to send in photos. A free-roaming, mobile blog like this is often called a "moblog." With Blogger Mobile you can post cameraphone shots directly to your blogs. You can also use sites like Buzznet and Flickr for photo-blogging, which have ways to syndicate your images and display the latest ones as thumbnails on your website.
If you're new to AdSense and not too familiar with making modifications to your blog's template, you can follow these instructions for placing AdSense code in your blog's sidebar (using the Minima template as an example).
Assuming you have already signed up and been approved for a Google AdSense account, you should be able to log in here. Once you're signed in, click the Ad Settings tab near the top of the page. To cut right to the chase, focus on these steps:
Button (125x125)
Skyscraper (120x600)
Wide Skyscraper (160 x 600)
Vertical Banner (120 x 240)
Small Rectangle (180x150)
There are all sorts of things you can add to your blog to make it more entertaining, more useful, or just more added-on-to. You can add a guestbook, or a tagboard, or a hit counter, or any number of other things, even ones we haven't thought of. You can start with the links we provide to various services, or just hunt the web for them with Google.
Once you find something you want to add to your blog, just follow the instructions on that site for how to do it. Usually, they will give you a piece or two of HTML code that you can cut-and-paste right into your blog. If it's something you want in a particular post (such as a quiz result) you can enter it the same way you make your other posts. If it's something you want to appear on every page (such as a hit counter, or a link to your guestbook) then you can paste the code into your template. Most of these features are very easy to install, but if you run into trouble with them, the site providing the service in question should be able to help you out.
Have fun!
Do you ever wonder how many people visit your blog, or where they come from? Well there are services you can install that can tell you all about the traffic on your site. They range from simple hit counters that just display a total number of visitors, to more advanced statistics services that can give you information about referrers, browsers, visiting times, and more.
There are a number of sites that offer free services to help you track visits to your blog. You can do a Google search to find them, or you can start by checking out some of these links:
Blogger provides a simple way for you to make money with your blog. AdSense is Google's content-targeted advertising program. This means that you do not select keywords or categories for your ads. Instead, Google's servers determine what your posts are about and display the most relevant ads to your readers. So, if you blog about baseball, there might be ads for Major League Baseball memorabilia next to your post. If you blog about painting, there might be ads for art supplies.
This integration between AdSense and Blogger is intended to make it easier for you to get up and running with AdSense on your blog. To place AdSense on your blog quickly and easily, find your way into Settings > Template > AdSense. You'll be able to choose a size for your ads and then customize how they'll look on your blog. To take full advantage of other AdSense options and settings, you can sign in to the AdSense site and have a look around. That's where you can see how much money your ads are earning and all that good stuff.

Adding AdSense to your blog is easy. Go to the Template tab in Blogger and you'll see an "AdSense ads" tab below it:
If you don't have an AdSense account already, you can sign up for it right here within Blogger. Just enter a valid email address, choose a password, fill in some contact information (so you can get paid!) and then Blogger will register your account for you right away. If you do have an account already, just use the "sign in" link instead.
Once you've completed the sign-up form, or logged in to an existing account, you'll see a special preview version of your template, showing your blog as it will look with your new ads:
Using the menus above the preview, you can easily change the size, shape, and color of your ads, without ever needing to edit the code directly. The color menu has some preset color schemes, but also some flexible options that try to match, contrast, or blend with whatever template you happen to be using. Try them all out and see which setting works best.
Once you've decided how you'd like it to look, just save the changes and republish your blog. Then go check your email.
While you were deciding on layouts and colors, you probably received a confirmation email from AdSense. Find that email and click on the link it gives you to confirm your email address. Be sure to read the rest of the confirmation email as well, since it will contain other information on finishing the registration and approval process. Until your email address is confirmed and your AdSense application is approved, your ads will only show public service announcements (PSAs) rather than targeted ads. Since you don't get revenue from PSAs, you'll want to be sure to do this soon, so the AdSense bot can crawl your site and determine appropriate ads to show.
And now you're done! Congratulations -- you've got AdSense!
